On September 13th, 2022, Shanghai, China - Robert Bosch Venture Capital, a subsidiary of Bosch Group, has completed the Pre-A round of investment in Guangdong ZIENER Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "ZIENER Technology"). Headquartered in Guangzhou, ZIENER Technology is a leading GaN IDM (integrated design and manufacturer) company in China. With its rich experience and innovative technologies in the field of GaN devices, ZIENER Technology is dedicated to develop a new generation of GaN power devices, comprehensively improving key performance parameters such as GaN operating voltage, conductivity, and switching frequency on the existing basis, and achieving more efficient power management systems.

According to the latest report from market research firm Yole Développement, the global power semiconductor market is expected to grow from $17.5 billion in 2020 to $26.2 billion in 2026, with a compound annual growth rate of 7% over the next five years. The global consensus on carbon neutrality has brought about higher demand in areas such as green energy management, new energy vehicles, renewable energy, therefore GaN devices are the key technology to achieve these goals.

"China is the world's largest and fastest-growing power semiconductor market, and GaN is one of the key technologies for achieving next-generation power systems and carbon neutrality. With innovative processes and device structures, ZIENER Technology will fully utilize the technological potential of GaN in the field of power electronics application." Sun Xiaoguang, partner of Bosch Venture Capital and business leader in China, said, "Investing in ZIENER Technology will further enrich our layout in the third-generation semiconductor field."

The BFOM (Baliga Figure of Merit, one of the most commonly used indicators for evaluating the comprehensive performance of power semiconductor materials) parameters of GaN materials reach 2400 times that of silicon materials and 5 times that of silicon carbide materials, respectively. Due to its excellent material properties and significant progress in manufacturing processes, GaN power devices are rapidly entering markets such as fast charging, power supplies, and IDC (Internet Data Center) in recent years. Nevertheless, due to the limitations of the device structure, the advantages of GaN materials are still far from being fully utilized, and there is still a huge space of improvement in the performance of power devices based on GaN materials.

ZIENER Technology has full stack technology accumulation in various fields of GaN equipment, process, device and application systems design. With its underlying innovation in processes and devices, ZIENER Technology will further accelerate the market penetration of GaN and gradually expand its application field to the automotive and industrial markets. Bosch Ventures, together with other shareholders, will continue to provide strong support to ZIENER Technology team to help the development of China's third-generation semiconductor industry.
